Reminder of the before picture of the Bloomsbury..
Reminder of the before picture of the Bloomsbury.
Also completed this weekend is a lunch bag. I was happy to be able to use one of Great Grandma Niss' buttons. I have her buttons and I try to use them with every project, but most of the time they don't match well. The pattern is from Knitty.com and is called Brown Bag. I couldn't leave it brown. T wants me to make her one for her school lunches. She has requested her to be purple and pink.
Last up is the Retro Tote. The knitting was completed at the cottage, but I finished lining it today. I can't say if I like it or not. I am not fond of it, but my girls are drooling over it.
Less than a week ago we were on vacation. The kids didn't seem to mind that it was mostly lower 70's upper 60's. They swam. They drank hot cocoa. Then they swam some more.
We saw most family members from both sides of the family. We had family members of all ages. Some of us sat around, read, knitted, napped, swam, built sand castles, walked on the beach, enjoyed beach fires, star gazed, over estimated our abilities and had to be pulled back by a neighbors boat because some were being pushed by offshore winds where had they waited too long others would have needed to call the coast guard, BBQ'd, ate and ate some more.

What do you make with a bag full of thick itchy ugly rug yarn from the 70's?
One day I ran across some newer yarn that I had bought, but didn't have enough to do anything with it except make a hat. Then I noticed that it had the same colors in it as the old yarn in the guild bag. So I have started my Retro Tote using the same pattern as the one I previously made with the recycled silk yarn.
Deep breathe... took apart my Bloomsbury sweater. Carefully detached the extra length - at one point I was careful not to drop any stitches only to discover that I was carefully saving the section of the sweater that I was removing - DOH! Then I took off about an inch too much - now ribbing the bottom. I removed the sleeves and added about 5". Removed and shortened the button/holes sections. In the end I think I may like it. There are some parts that I am hoping washing with even out some of the stitches. It was a good practice anyways.
