In the middle of a knitting fury. I have a few hats for December's guild meeting - the charity hat contest. This hat, Palindrome Hat, is squishy and big. I like it, but will use worsted instead of bulky next time. The cold weather caught me off guard at work. I will admit that I was tempted to wear the charity hats instead of my old raggy hats from previous winters. But it just didn't seem right, I didn't knit them for me.
On the Christmas knitting front - I have a few projects on the needles. Some I can tell you about and others... well they read the blog.
So I have a nice project that I am working on, and mom, I know you are reading this... but I am going to show you just a little hint.
Do you need a little more hint? Try this... Those in Ravelry can view it here.
There. That should answer all your questions. Please act surprised when you open your gift at Christmas. Now Dad's gift - that I can safely post when the time comes. ... and Ram-niss and my children's too - they don't read this site.

In between
In between knitting a huge variety of items with deadlines, I had a bee in my bonnet. I wanted to wear a cardigan. I really love this one that I made a few years ago, but it looked nicer sitting in my drawer than on me. It drove me nuts that it was way too big/long. I could chalk it up to it being one of my first knitting projects at the start of this addiction. All projects are a learning experience. It also could be that with knitting I had the opportunity to make a sweater that was long enough in the arms - so I over did it. Then I could also blame my ability to judge my body size or I may have been making this before I lost a lot of weight. Any and all of these reasons aside, I wanted to wear it. So one day this week I removed 9" from the bottom of the sweater and re-knitted the band. Now I will be happy to wear it.
Now back to my little projects and piles of yarn...

Getting ready
A little snap-shot of our weekend. The kids raked leaves at the cottage. Can we get them to do it at home? No. But at the cottage where it isn't required, they all pitched in. They loved the huge oak leaves that made the biggest leaf piles that they have ever had. So they spent the weekend raking and then jumping in the piles. Not a bad way to spend a fall day in my book.
Here is a hat already for the winter snow to start flying. It is waiting for the matching mittens to be completed.
The pattern is EZ Fit Hat by Rae Blackledge. This hat can be made into any size. I personally love the folded brim. It is soft and extra warm.

Holiday knitting continues
I know it seems early to have my Christmas knitting well underway. I also know that I should knit now. Once the holiday charity knitting starts, I don't want to try to be working on gifts. I will get overwhelmed and nothing will get done.
I know that I am 'early', but it really ticks me off that there are holiday ads on TV already! It is one thing to tell yourself that you are doing this to prepare, who wants the commercial world to try to get you to start thinking of the holidays now?
